History

In 1961 the Garden City Library was started as a service project of the Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.  Sorority members and Garden City citizens who participated in this project were led by sisters Dore Moon (Stansbury), and Marjorie Ruth Moon.  Pastor Thomas Blackburn served as liaison between sorority and community, with Garden City Councilman Harold Conn as an advisor.  Mrs. Robert Roundtree of Beta Sigma Phi was board chairman and Mrs. Signa Higgins (Treat) co-chairman, Dora Moon was project chairman.

In 1962 the Library officially opened and was called Ada County Community Library No. 2. It was located in a small building behind the Christian Community Center.
